Learning Forward

Prof.M.Suresh Gandhi has made pioneering contributions to environmental monitoring by utilizing foraminifera as a powerful and innovative tool. Innovative studies on benthic foraminifera have revealed the endangered condition of the Palk Strait due to siltation. His research highlighted the ecological dynamics of benthic foraminifera and their abundance in the Palk Strait, with a focus on siltation and morphological deformities observed prominently in the southern Manalmelkudi area. Collaborating with esteemed institutions such as Terengganu University, Malaysia, and the National Institute of Oceanography, Goa, Prof.Gandhi has
conducted pivotal studies on environmental pollution monitoring, ecological assessments, and paleoenvironmental reconstructions. Academic and Research Excellence: Dr. Gandhi’s academic and research pursuits have spanned diverse areas, including Environmental Micropaleontology, Environmental Geology, Sedimentology, Hydrogeology, and Heavy Mineral Studies. His specialization extends to submarine groundwater discharge studies, the distribution and provenance of heavy minerals along the Tamil Nadu coast, radioactive mineral studies, and groundwater quality assessments. Prof.Gandhi has presented over 110 research papers at national and international seminars and conferences. He has delivered 118 invited lectures globally, earning recognition as a thought leader in his field. He is an active life member of several professional organizations, including the National Environmental
Science Academy (NESA), Gondwana Geological Magazine, PAGES, and the Paleontological Society of India. Awards and Recognition: Prof. Gandhi’s work has garnered numerous prestigious accolades, including the NESA Eminent Scientist Award, the NESA  Environmentalist Award , and the NESA Fellow Award. His expertise has been sought internationally, with invitations to deliver lectures at Padang University, Indonesia, and University of Rajshahi,
